Sitter

From a young age, I was always that kid when it came to animals. When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would say, “I wanna be a dog!” and meant it. In my defense, my five years of experience being a human was pretty boring and I was looking to shake things up.

Though my ambitious career goal of morphing into a dog or similar beast never panned out, my endless enthusiasm for animals made me an ideal candidate for pet care. I got my start in doggy daycares with the ultimate goal of becoming a pet sitter (update: it’s going great!)

I’m a born and bred dog lover, but I’m also a self-made cat fancier. I grew up with dogs, so I knew them like the back of my hand, but understanding cats was my Everest. They were a mystery to me, but first-hand experience and insight from experts taught me some valuable skills that improved my quality of care for all living things. Namely, how to identify and respect a non-verbal creature’s boundaries. Then, of course, how to smooth things over when you have to cross those boundaries because they won’t take a pill in some cheese.

I care deeply about animal welfare and volunteer at a cat rescue in my off time. After a long week of caring for animals, sometimes the only way to unwind is kicking back and caring for more animals. I can’t get enough of that wonderful fluff!
