Sitter, Bird & Rescue Specialist
While growing up, I’ve almost always had a pet in my life. A cat or dog here and there and many birds. I currently have 2 shih tzu boys (Mijo & Souki), 2 cockatiels (Baby & Booboo), 2 budgies (Little Chief and Daddy Budgie), and 2 angelfish. After rescuing a mini daschund puppy a few years ago, I started becoming more familiar with the dog rescue world and ended up volunteering for a local dog rescue as their Adoption Coordinator. After well over a year with the dog rescue, I took some ‘time off’ from volunteering and eventually got back into things volunteering for Humane Society International at their Emergency Shelter. My love for animals, especially dogs, continues to grow and I decided to brighten my horizons in caring for animals and here I am, working with the Dayna’s Pet Sitting Team! I really enjoy caring for animals and making sure they’re needs are more than met.
I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and I spent my entire childhood begging my parents to get me any pet possible. I finally succeeded at age 6 when they got me my first cat Pumpkin (even though it turned out that Pumpkin actually hated kids and scratched me to pieces… but I loved her all the same).
Fast forward to high school and university where my love of animals grew into a heavy volunteer schedule. I started at a wildlife sanctuary in high school and helped care for everything from squirrels and racoons to skunks and foxes. In university I spent my weekends volunteering at a barn prepping horses for disabled children to ride and even took my love as far as a placement rehabilitating injured sea turtles in Cairns, Australia post grad. I’ve loved every experience I could get to interact with animals of all shapes and sizes.
I forever wanted to pursue a career with animals, but instead have fallen into a career in environmental studies that I absolutely love. To compensate for my need to help care for animals, I decided to take on pet sitting on the side and so far have loved this outlet for fulfilling my need for animal contact. When not at work, volunteering, or caring for our client’s animals, I can be found globe trotting or just at home with my new cat Hudson.
Looking forward to meeting you and your fluffy companions!
